Altar Guild

The Altar Guild assists the Priest by setting up for the Sunday services, Baptisms, Funerals and during the Holiday Seasons.  Altar guild also orders supplies , such as the Sacramental Hosts, wine, and oil for the candles.

 

Angel Tree

The Angel Tree Project is organized by Mansfield's Common Ground and provides Christmas presents for children in the Mansfield area.  St. Gregory's has participated in this program for several years. 

 

Bible/Book Study

St. Gregory's provides opportunities for weekly study through the Men's Group and Small Study Groups.

 

Birthday Card Ministry

Birthday Cards are mailed to all parishioners on their birthday.  Leaders of this ministry are Candace and Angie Griffin. 

 

Daughters of the Holy Cross

Daughters of the Holy Cross exists to gather Anglican women and girls into a nurturing and empowering community called to be servants of Jesus as He unites and bulds up His body, the church.  Each Daughter takes a lifetime vow to live by the rule of the Order which requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service, study and evangelism.  Daughters of the Holy Cross (DHC)  prays for the needs of St. Gregory parishioners and the community.  DHC also provides transportation for members to church services and makes visits and calls to the sick and shut in. During the year DHC hosts several service projects, a women's retreat, plus social events for women of the parish.   Bernice Baldwin is the president of St. Gregory's chapter.

 

Evangelism and Outreach

Evangelism and Outreach plans activities and volunteer efforts that are inviting and supportive of the Mansfield community.  St. Gregory participates in the "Feed the Children" Backpack program which helps feed children throughout the year.  St. Gregory hosts a Fall Festival each year free to the community.  Evanglism and Outreach also supports activities of the preschool and preschool families, such as, the Preschool Thanksgiving Feast.  The Angel Tree program is supported each December through a joint effort of the parish and the preschool. Tony Casamento is the Vestry representative for Evangelism and Outreach.

 

Flower Guild

The purpose of the Flower Guild is to beautify the Sanctuary of St. Gregory's and to glorify God with fresh, cut flowers each week.  Flower arrangements are prepared each week.  Special floral arrangements are made for The Altar of Repose, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Funerals and the Bishop's reception.  Guild leader of the Flower Guild is Cheri Davis.

 

Genealogy Group

The goal of the Genealogy group is to help each other conduct research on their family history, share sources, methods, successes, and dead-ends. This group is led by the members themselves with the more experienced members taking the leadership role.  The genealogy group meets in the day-time, at least once a month.  Field trip to the libraries, archives, and historical cemeteries are occasionally scheduled.  The group has a Facebook Page where notices of upcoming events are posted as well as resources and "How To" documents. 

 

Healing Ministry

Established prayer teams pray and lay hands on those seeking healing during communion (a work following in the footsteps of the apostles as directed by Jesus).

Men's Group/Study:

The Men's group/study meets twice a month on the first and third Saturday mornings of the month.  Usually the group meets for breadkfast at Rosa's and has a short study following breakfast. 

 

Music Ministry

Jim Maas is the Organist and Choir Director for St. Gregory's.  The choir under the direction of Jim provides music during the Sunday Mass as well as other services such as Lessons and Carols, Easter, Christmas, and funerals.  With the support of the Sunday School, children of the parish have learned to present the Doxology on the day of the Children's sermon.  St. Gregory's produced its first Christmas pagaent in 2017 and plans are to make this an annual event.  In 2018 Jim plans to add "St. Gregory's Strings" to the worship music involving violin performances during the prelude, anthem, hymns, and service music.  The Music Ministry invites anyone who enjoys singing to join the choir. 

 

Nursery

The Nursery Guild was established to provide child care during Mass for children up to age 3.  Volunteers work a 2 week alternating rotation so the children see a familiar face each week.    Suzanne Dougherty coordinates the Nursery ministry.

 

Parish Life

Parish Life schedules and organizes social events for the parish to build up the relationships of parishioners and encourage social interaction.  Each Sunday a time of fellowship follows Mass.  Coffee, donuts and other delicious items are availabe to eat.  Church members volunteer on a weekly basis to provide finger food items for these fellowships.  Monthly potlucks are held on the first Wednesday evening, following Mass, throughout the year.  GEM is our quarterly evening Adult Fellowship.  Fine food and good fellowship are plentiful at these gatherings.  A spring parish picnic is a tradition at St. Gregory's.  The picnic is hosted by a parishioner and includes not only great food but fun and games for the whole famly. 

 

St. Clara's Guild

St. Clara's guild members use their sewing skills to make quilts for the sick and shut in, knitted baby caps for premies at area hospitals.  The guild also made chair backs for the pre-school and costumes for the Christmas pageant.  St. Clara's guild enjoys sewing, knitting or crocheting and the comradery it brings.  Barbara Edwards is the ministry leader and Barbara Hanson hosts the St. Clara's Guild in her home. 

 

St. Francis Pet Therapy

            St. Francis Pet Thereapy works through Pet Partners which consists of an owner/handler and their animal making visits to the nursing home and schools,  and bringing joy and love to the residents and students.  Volunteers without pets can also participate in this ministry by reading, visiting and participating in special activities with the residents.   

 

St. Martha's Guild

St. Martha's Guild provides meals to shut-ins,  the ill, food, bereaved families or families celebrating births.  This Guild serves St. Gregory's parishioners in time of need.  Brenda Lee and Rita Barowsky leads this guild.

 

Sunday School

Children's Sunday School currently consists of three classes:  3-5 year old, K-second grade, third through fifth grade.  Music is taught during Sunday School along with a Bible lesson and craft.  Suzanne Dougherty is the vestry liason for Sunday School. 

 

Worship

Heinz Liedke coordinates St. Gregory's worship servers and prayer team.  Worship servers consists of Greeters, Lems, Lectors, Crucifers and Oblationers.  Servers are scheduled on a monthly basis.
